The Polite Pups Experience

Indie - Training Client

I was a kid in the ‘70s when I last lived with a puppy. I guess my Dad did all the training and I just played with our Labradoodle because I don’t recall that our puppy, Louie, needed attention every minute of his waking day. So it came to me as a surprise when I brought my 4-month-old pandemic poodle home that Indie required a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of attention a day. Try fielding a work Zoom call with a puppy who was a whirling dervish with sharp teeth. Ouch! It was tough. I was ready to give her back to the breeder … but then I was given Donna’s phone number. I was relieved the moment I spoke to Donna on the phone. I appreciated Donna’s straightforward and honest approach – she told me that she would ‘train’ me to train my pooch, and that’s all I needed to know. I was ready to learn. She also said she would use treats and rewards, no physical punishment  like a flick on the nose or wrap on the bum, which aligns 100% with my ethics and world view.

Donna is incredibly generous with her time. She is highly skilled and has a wonderful way with both dogs and people. Donna answers all my questions during our lessons and then – free of charge – answers questions via  text and email between training sessions. And I had  LOT of them at the start.

I’m now far more confident about what I’m doing. I thoroughly enjoy the time with Donna and my pooch. Five months into it and my crazy little puppy has morphed into a highly trainable, mischievous, funny and intelligent poodle. I’m enjoying my puppy and I know Indie is enjoying me, too!

Donna is a remarkable professional who integrates her extensive knowledge about dog training  with her sensibilities as a professional artist and teacher. This unique combo makes for a creative and inspiring training session, where even negative space is part of the training canvas.

If you need a good trainer, look no further! Give Donna a call. She is amazing. Full stop.
